- This is a record of work showing what area of the syllabus/curriculum in a subject a teacher has covered. The record is kept by each teacher and must be produced on demand. It is important that each teacher enters in the record all the topics taught in the subject weekly and submit to the principal through his head of department for checking, signature and date. This important record is very useful when a teacher is transferred and another teacher has to take over his job. The teacher taking over would not have problem in identifying at what point he should start his job.
Your Secondary School diary is probably the most important book you will need this year. Now that you have so many different teachers, rooms and subjects, it is vital that you keep all of your information organised. If you use your diary properly you should be able to stay organised. The teachers will love how organised you are, and you will be a lot less stressed!
- Be sure to enter your contact information in case you lose your diary. This way whoever finds it will be able to return it to you.
- Keep your diary in a regular spot. (e.g. the top pocket in your school bag) and always put it back there after each use. This way, you’ll never lose it.
- Find a way to mark what day you are up to so that you can open it up quickly to today’s date, e.g. your diary may have a string or ribbon, turn over the corner of the page, highlight or put a line through each day as it finishes or, cut off the bottom corner of each page when finished.
- Be consistent with your diary! Consistency equals organisation.
- Look at it every day! Don’t rely on your memory. You must check your diary every day even if you haven’t got any homework that night. There could be a reminder for the next day or a big piece of homework that you should get started. Check the pages ahead so that nothing is left to the last minute.
- The types of things you should be entering in your diary are: homework, assignments, special school events, things you need to bring in such as notes, money etc. and reminders for things that need to be started early.
